LaFex and VanBrocklin Named Jefferson Co-Athletes of the Week

Freshman golfer, Gabriel Lafex of the Jefferson Community College (JCC) golf team, and freshman outfielder Katelyn I. VanBrocklin, of the Jefferson softball team, were named JCC co-athletes of the week for the week ending April 15, 2018.  JCC's athlete of the week program is sponsored by Under Armour and Victory Promotions.  

Gabriel, a 2017 graduate of Watertown High School, is majoring in Business Administration at Jefferson.  LaFex’s accomplishments on the course this past week included finishing 2nd overall in the 2018 Mid-State Athletic Conference Tournament Golf match with a score of 78, held at the Timber Banks Country Club. He was also named to the 2018 Mid-State Athletic Conference All-Conference Golf Team.

Katelyn, a 2017 graduate of Belleville Central School, is majoring in Mathematics and Science at Jefferson.  VanBrocklin’s accomplishments this past week included being a constant threat at the plate and a reliable glove in the outfield, currently leading the team with a batting average of .353.  In our game against SUNY Adirondack, Kate was 2 for 3 in game one with an RBI, contributing hits late in the game for the rally to keep us in the game.  She was 3 for 6 on the day with 2 RBIs.  As a right fielder, Kate has a .909 fielding percentage, completing, and having a perfect fielding percentage since our return from Maryland.  Kate is a strong freshman who leads by example on the field and through her consistent play.
