#11 Nickson Merone vs Fulton Montgomery

The Cannoneers Start 2nd Half of Season 2-3.

The Cannoneers starting their second half of the season on the road against host Erie County Community College.  The Kats of Erie would jump out to 44-29 halftime lead and cruise the rest of the way for a comfortable 94-59 win over the Cannoneers.  Leading the way for the Cannoneers were freshman Josh Newman with 17 points and Herby Plaisimond with 16 points and Caleb Riordan with a 10 point effort.

In their next match up, Jefferson would host the Cayuga Spartans in their first MSAC conference game of the second semester and would come away victorious.  The Cannoneers would find themselves in a battle for the whole night and would take a 32-30 lead into halftime.  The game would go down to the wire as the Spartans would never go away and the Cannoneers would sink crucial free throws at the end for a hard fought 70-67 win.

It was a well balanced effort as Herby Plaisimond would lead the way with 15 points, followed by Quincy Aubertine with 14 points, and Josh Newman and Marlon Richardson with 10 points apiece.  Nickson Merone would chip in with 9 points to help out in the winning team effort.

The Lazers of Onondaga Community College would come to town and hand the Cannoneers their first league loss of the year by the final count of 89-74.  The Cannoneers would fight all the way to the end and get as close as 6 points , but could never get over their slow start.  Josh Newman would lead the way for the Cannoneers with 20 points followed by Herby Plaisimond with 17 and Quincy Aubertine with 15.  Nickson Merone would also chip in with 9 points in the losing effort. 

To close off the week JCC would travel to Corning Community College on Saturday and host Clinton Community College on Sunday.  

The Corning Red Barons were to much inside for the Cannoneers and would come away with a 100-74 victory over the visiting team from Jefferson.  A slow start again by the Cannoneers would force them to play from behind the entire game and result in the lopsided loss.  Quincy Aubertine would lead the way with 22 points, followed by Herby Plaisimond with 20 points, Caleb Riordan with 11 points and Josh Newman with 10 points.  

Jefferson came away with a much needed win against Clinton on Sunday.  The Cannoneers would jump on the Cougars from the start and find themsleves leading at the half by the score of 54-41. They would see that lead expand to 20 in the second half, only to watch the scrappy Cougars get within 8 and finally hold them off for a 104-89 win.  Another well balanced team effort would propel the Cannoneers to this Region 3 win.  Leading the way were Quincy Aubertine with 24 points, Herby Plaisimond with 22 points and Josh Newman with 19 points.  Nickson Merone would add 16 points followed by Nate Weaver's 10 points and Marlon Richardson's 9 points.

The Cannoneers have the week off until they play at Broome on Saturday in a key MSAC game.
