Sophomore #32 Joshua Newman Battles his defender for the basket

Cannoneers Upend #6 Herkimer

The Cannoneers traveled to #6 nationally ranked Herkimer to take on the Generals in a Region III match up on Thursday night and came away with a huge 66-47 win.  Neither team could find a consistent shooting touch in the first half, which led to a 27-21 lead for the Generals heading into intermission.  The second half was much different as the Cannoneers would buckle down on defense and limit the Generals on the offensive end by controlling the defensive boards.  It would also be a half in which the Cannoneers would execute and hit timely shots to secure the win.

Leading the way with one of his best performances of the year was Joshua Newman.  Josh would score 22 points and control the defensive end.  His running mate, Liam Bonk would also have a stellar game on both ends as he added 13 points.  Also contributing to the win was Isiah Murphy with 12 points, Jalen Stewart would chip in with 8 points, along with Jake Hess and Justin Omaga with 5 and 4 points respectively.   It was a great team effort and a great win on the road for the Cannoneers!
