Cannoneers Drop Close Home Opener

The Cannoneers opened their season at home by hosting the Bobcats of Brayant and Stratton (Syracuse) and came out on the short end of the score, 69-65.  it was a close game throughout with neither team gaining any major point advantage.  The first half would see the Bobcats take a 1-point lead 35-34 into the intermission.  The second half would see the Bobcats extend the lead to 8 points, only to watch the Cannoneers battle back to take a 3-point lead with 6 minutes to go.  The game would be decided in the last 2 minutes as the Bobcats would execute and finish the game with a 69-65 win.

Leading the way for the Cannoneers was Shamell Ponds with 13 points followed by Jeremiah Smith and Kristan Lewis with 11 points each, and Eric Eastham with 10 points.  Next up for the Cannoneers is Genesee Community College  on Thursday evening at 7 pm.
