Joe Vaadi joins the Cannoneer coaching staff, bringing over 25 years of experience at the Division III, Junior College and High School Levels.  Vaadi steps into the head coaching position after volunteering the last 2 years at Jefferson, hoping to bring the Cannoneers back to a hardworking and intelligent basketball program.

Before his time at JCC, Joe was the head men's soccer coach and head women's basketball coach at SUNY Potsdam for 18 years.  During this time, Vaadi led the men's soccer team  to the conference playoffs for the first time in over 20 years and was named 2000 Coach of the Year.  In women's basketball, Joe led the 1994 team to their first and only Conference Championship in school history.  In 1993 he was named District Coach of the Year and was one of 8 finalists in the country for National Coach of the Year.  During 1984-1986, he studied basketball under renowned basketball coaching legend, Jerry Welsh, as an undergraduate assistant coach.  While an undergraduate assistant coach the Potsdam men's basketball team finished second in the country in 1985 and in 1986 won a National Championship, going undefeated with a 32-0 record.

Joe graduated from SUNY Potsdam with a degree in Elementary Education and History in 1988.  Prior to that, he played basketball at the College of Southern Idaho and earned a Liberal Arts degree.  Vaadi earned a Masters in Sport Coaching from the United States Sports Academy in 1993.  He currently resides in Watertown, NY.
