Bio

Coaching Experience:

1 season as an assistant modified coach at Immaculate Heart Central

10 years as Jefferson Men's Lacrosse Assistant Coach

1 year as Interim Head Coach.

6 years as Head Coach Jefferson

Qualifications and Playing Experience:

Coach Dave Vespa played and graduated locally from South Jefferson High School in 1995 where he was a Frontier League All Star defensive specialist.  After graduating from South Jefferson he went on to play for Oneonta State and Coach Nagle.  Starting at LSM for the Red Dragons as a freshman; hamstring and back problems hampered his playing career.  In 1998 Jefferson Community College offered him a chance to play again and the Cannoneer squad had one of their most successful seasons to date as the team grabbed the Region III fourth seed and lost to Herkimer Community College in the Region III Final Four.

Coach Vespa never went far away from the game as he helped and assisted IHC's modified lacrosse program and then spent 12 years from 2001-2012 as Jefferson's assistant coach.  This followed up with an Interim Head Coaching year in 2013 after Coach Mark Streiff had stepped down and the team finished the season with 2-7 record.  In the summer following the 2013 season Coach Vespa was named Head Coach of the Jefferson Men's Lacrosse Progam.

Dave Vespa enters his 6th season as Jefferson's Men's Lacrosse coach.  Coach Vespa was also recognized as the Mid-State Athletic Conference Coach of the Year as well as the Region 3 Coach of the Year in 2014.

2019 Season Outlook:

With a young team the Cannoneers will look to improve from last year.  Jefferson will be led by captains Robert Mulligan and Drew Parker on the offensive end, while Brendon Scordo and Lukas Williams anchor the defensive end.
