Lady Cannoneers Defeat the Lady Panthers

The Lady Cannoneers welcomed Mid-State Athletic Conference foe Tompkins-Cortland CC to the McVean Center Gymnasium on Tuesday night. This would be the first conference matchup up of the season for both schools who entered the contest with victories in their last game. Tompkins-Cortland and Jefferson would trade baskets back and forth for much of the first quarter Sophomore forward Chelsey Raven would lead the offensive charge notching 8 quick points to start the game. The Lady Cannoneers would go on a quick scoring spree behind 3-point baskets from Ashlyn Eyles, and Skyler Trumble to end the second quarter that saw them take an eleven point lead into the halftime break. Eyles picked up right where she left off in the second quarter knocking down a 3 point basket to kick play off. The third quarter was a mirror image of the first quarter with MSAC opponents trading baskets back and forth. The Lady Panthers would make a late charge with 3 minutes behind several 3 point baskets, but Jefferson would control the ball and connect from the free throw line to defend their home floor! Ashlyn Eyles led the offensive charge with 24 points and 6 assists, while sophmore forward Alyson Crosby contributed 20 and 19 rebounds.
