Jefferson Women's Lax vs North Country Saints

Lady Cannoneers Second Half Comeback Falls Short

The SUNY Jefferson Lady Cannoneers lost a nail biter to the North Country Community College Saints 14-13 on Saturday. After a closely contested first half, the score was 9-8 at halftime in favor of the Saints. An early burst in the second half jolted the Saints to a 12-8 lead. However, the Cannoneers stormed back and tied the game at 12 late in the second half. After quick back and forth goals, the Saints stopped a late shot and ran the clock down to seal the win.

Jefferson's defense stepped up in crucial times throughout the game. Goalie, Kelsey McLaughlin faced 30 shots total, with 25 of them on goal. She finished the game with 11 saves. Newcomer, Maggie Mintz led the defense with 2 caused turnovers and took a key charge that shifted momentum in favor of the Cannoneers. The Cannoneer offense was led by captains, Hanna Misercola and Natalie Cole, who accounted for 10 of the team's 13 goals. Misercola finished with 6 goals and 1 assist and added 4 ground balls and 4 draw controls. Cole had 4 goals and had 6 ground balls and 6 draw controls. Kylie Guyette and Samantha Clement added 2 goals and 1 goal and 1 assist respectively. Morgan Eggleston added 1 assist.

The Cannoneers (1-1) look to get back on track this Wednesday, April 10th at 7 p.m. against the visiting Monroe Community College Tribunes. The game will also be the team's Sophomore Night, as we honor our sophomores and their contributions to the program.
