Women's Soccer Sophomores

Sophomores Honored this Past Weekend

This past weekend the Jefferson Women's Soccer recognized their sophomores before their match against Hudson Valley Community College.

Congratulations to the following and best of luck in all your future endeavors!

#1 Kelsey McLaughlin

Kelsey came to us from NYC area and has improved each of her 2 seasons at Jefferson, she surprises many people with her quickness. At first she wasn't sure if playing soccer at college was for her. She has made many friends and I hope she is now saying that she is glad she played.

#14 Paige Hamilton

We were very excited to find out that Paige's plans for this semester had changed and she was going to be here for a second season. Paige has grown and adapted to the college soccer game and keeps improving. Even though Paige started as a defender, she can play any position on the field.

#0 Mikenna Merry

Mikenna has worked hard with our goalie coach to improve her skills as a keeper. She was on her way to be an all region and all conference goal keeper till an injury sidelined her for the season. She still has been at every practice and game helping her team mates any way she can. She still gets a lot of comments from other coaches from other teams who have watched our past game videos.

#24 McKay Fulmer

Team captain and lead the team in spirit. McKay has played several positions for us on the pitch including volunteering to be in goal in a game when Mikenna Merry was injured. It takes character to volunteer with no questions asked and McKAy has always been that person and has been very dedicated to the program.

#18 Mazzy Watson

A hard working midfielder that leads the team in points this season. She worked hard off season to improve her fitness and it shows on the field. Nearly every transition on the field goes through her and she makes things happen. Mazzy was also a team captain this season.

#16 Katy Nortz

Katy has played every minute of every game during her 2 season's with the Lady Cannoneers. She is one of the top defenders in the region.  A great attitude, who goes about her job quietly with a big impact. A leader of our defense and a leader off the field is reason she has been a team captain this season. Katy has been nominated for the All Conference team and the All Region team.

I would like to thank all of our 2nd year players for all the work, sweat and hours they put into the two seasons. I could not be more blessed than I am with this outstanding group of young ladies. They will be missed as they move forward with their education, athletics, careers and families but as I have told them many times, "Once you are part of our team you are always part of our team!"~Coach Bowhall
