Jefferson Volleyball go 3-1 on the Week

The Lady Cannoneers had a successful first week finishing 3-1.  On Thursday, September 6th Jefferson defeated Finger Lakes Community College in a tough MSAC match, winning in 5 sets:  14-25, 25-16, 21-25, 25-21, and 15-10.  Then on Saturday Jefferson faced SUNY Broome, Tompkins Cortland Community College, and Corning Community College for the first three regional matches of the season.  Jefferson first fell to Broome in three sets:  23-25, 19-25, and 18-25.  Next the Lady Cannoneers defeated Tompkins Cortland in three sets:  25-13, 25-12, and 26-24.  Finally, JCC beat Corning in four sets:  25-27, 25-11, 25-15, and 25-19.  Alexa Runyon finished the week with 44 kills and 9 blocks, Marjorie Vazquez compiled 14 blocks and 28 kills, while Allison Burrows chipped in 24 kills and 86 digs.  Mallory Harter led the defense after Jenna Wilson suffered a fractured thumb Thursday night in set one.  Mallory compiled 77 digs, Nicole O'Connor added 20 digs, Sara Archer finished with 28 digs, and Savvy Baker added 17 digs respectfully.  Grace Gehrke 8 kills and Alyssa Evans finished with 18 kills to round out the weekend.  Kelsey Finster has become our one setter since Mallory Harter transitioned to defense after Jenna's injury and Kelsey racked up 116 assists.  The team travels to Onondaga Community College for a tough MSAC/Regional Match this Wednesday, September 12th.
