Jefferson Volleyball goes 4-0 This Week

The Lady Cannoneers are on a 7-0 run which include 4 wins from the week of September 17th.  The team was able to give SUNY Broome their only loss so far, beating them in 4 sets on Wednesday, September 19th:  25-18, 8-25, 25-17 and 25-20.  This win moves Jefferson into position to host the MSAC Tournament if they can close out conference matches against Tompkins Cortland and Cayuga with wins.  This win also gave Jefferson the momentum they needed to pick up 3 more regional wins over the weekend against Mohawk Valley:  25-14, 25-11, and 25-11; Fulton Montgomery:  25-12, 25-15, and 25-4; and finally Herkimer:  25-22, 25-19, and 25-22.  Captain Mallory Harter led the defense as usual with 55 digs and 40 service points, middle blocker Alexa Runyon added 35 kills and 14 blocks, and Maggie Vazquez compiled 10 blocks and 28 kills.  Kelsey Finster spread out the offense with 94 assists, Allison Burrows continued her steady play with 17 kills and 63 digs, Alyssa Evans chipped in 12 kills, and Grace Gehrke added 11 kills.  Mallory was helped out defensively by Nicole O'Connor with 14 digs, Sara Archer finished with 8 digs, and Savanna Baker resumed with playing over the weekend and added 4 digs.  The team travels to Hudson Valley for 3 more regional matches this Saturday.
