The Lady Cannoneers Fall to Broome in MSAC Championship Match

The Lady Cannoneers easily defeated Onondaga Community College in the semi-finals of the MSAC Tournament on Saturday in three sets:  25-12, 25-15, and 25-14.  Then fell in the finals to SUNY Broome:  19-25, 21-25, 25-21, and 21-25, which puts the Lady Cannoneers finishing in the top two of the Conference for seven straight years.  Alexa Runyon was a force at the net finishing with 10 blocks and 14 kills while Maggie Vazquez pitched in 15 kills and 5 blocks.  Grace Gehrke finished with 6 kills and 3 blocks while Allison Burrows chipped in 13 kills and 36 digs and Alyssa Evans added 7 kills.  Mallory Harter racked up 34 digs, Sara Archer finished with 7 digs, Nicole O'Connor finished with 7 service points and Savanna Baker had 4 service points.  Kelsey Finster finished the day with 49 assists.  The team will turn their focus this week to Regional Play in Niagara starting on Saturday, October 27th.  They will face Genesee, Erie, and Broome in their pool on Saturday and hope to advance to the finals on Sunday.  The Lady Cannoneers enter Regionals as the 3rd seed.
