The Jefferson Volleyball Team traveled to Rochester, Minnesota to take part in the National Tournament. Going in, JCC was seeded 9th, which pit them against Harrisburg, PA in the first round on Thursday, November 14th at 10:00. Jefferson went to business in the first set and never looked back, winning in 3 sets (25-13, 25-18, 25-18). This put Jefferson playing the #1 seed Owens from Ohio who ended up wining the National Tournament and not dropping a set to any opponent. Jefferson lost in three sets (15-25, 16-25, 19-25). This loss sent Jefferson to play the #5 seed Central Lakes from Minnesota and JCC lost in 4 sets (18-25, 11-25, 25-21, 19-25). Finally, Jefferson would battle Jamestown for the #7 spot and would lose in 5 sets (25-22, 25-17, 19-25, 19-25, 9-15). Therefore, Jefferson came home in the 8th spot.
Marjorie Vazquez was named to the NJCAA All-Tournament Team which only 7 teams were represented by! She finished the tournament with 40 kills, 13 blocks, and 27 digs. Allison Burrows was a steady force as always compiling 54 digs, 20 kills, and 18 service points. Alyssa Evans really rallied this team throughout the tournament and contributed 19 kills, Grace Gehrke finished with 17 kills and 3 blocks, and Brooke Everson finished with 18 kills and 31 digs. Jenna Wilson led the defense as always with 52 digs and racked up 39 service points, Kelsey Finster hit the 1,000 assist mark after compiling 105 assists for the tournament. Nicole O'Connor finished wth 21 service points while Savanna Baker compiled 19 service points. Aliza Deasy and Abby Sullivan gained some experience on the floor during this National Tournament that they can take with them in to next season.
The Jefferson Cannoneers finished their season at 30-9, MSAC Champions, Region 3 North B Champions, and 8th in the Nation. They certainly have a lot to be proud of and will finally get to hang a banner up in the gym reminding everyone that it takes dedication, frustration, laughter, tears, perseverance, and a whole lot of heart to win 2 championships in 2 weeks. Well deserved, ladies; you have forever left your mark in Jefferson Volleyball History.
