Jefferson Split with Mohawk Valley

Jefferson split on the road winning game one 16-5 in 6 innings and dropping the second game 6-3 to open up the first day of a two consecutive day four game series.

Game One:      Jefferson 16 – Mohawk Valley 5

Jacob Welch (Spencerport, NY) moved to 4-1 on the year behind a 6 hit, 7 strikeout performance on the mound. Offensively Jefferson put up 16 hits on the board and scored 11 runs on 8 hits in the top of the 6th inning to shorten the game to 6 innings. Louie Diaz (Chicago, IL) provided 4 hits, 1 double, and 2 RBI while Kyle Simmons (Watertown, NY) provided 3 hits, 1 double, and 4 RBI. Nathan Mastervick (Niagara Falls, ONT), Tyler Decker (Adams, NY), and Erric Barnier (London, ONT) all provided two hits apiece.

Game Two:     Jefferson 3 – Mohawk Valley 6

The Cannoneer bats couldn't put up enough runs with their late game rally finishing at just 3 runs the final two innings. For Mohawk Valley starter Matthew Engler (Whitesboro, NY) keep hitters off balance and pitched 6 innings only allowing 1 run. Offensively for Jefferson Tyler Decker (Adams, NY) was 4-4 with 2 doubles and 2 RBI.

The 4 game series was put on hold today as the 2nd half of their series was cancelled at the Watertown Fairgrounds.  Jefferson is now 12-11 overall and 6-2 in the Region III Eastern Division.
