The Cannoneer Baseball Team Continues to Dominate

Game #1:         Jefferson 3 – Columbia Greene 1 (8 Innings)

Jefferson received a dominate performance by sophomore starting pitcher Jacob Welch (Spencerport, NY) going 8 innings, allowing 4 hits, walked 2, and striking out 8 to move to 5-1 on the season. Offensively Jefferson scored their 3 runs in the final 3 innings to come from behind a 1-0 deficit to win in extra innings. Kyle Simmons (Watertown, NY) and Tyler Decker (Adams, NY) both contributed two hits and Louie Diaz (Chicago, IL) contributed 2 RBI. In the top of the 8th leadoff batter Ariel Suriel (Bronx, NY) hit a single to left, and freshmen Calder Roggie (Lowville, NY) sacrificed pinch runner Nicolas Espino (Bronx, NY) over. A ground out moved Espino to 3rd and the 4th hitter in the inning Louie Diaz plated Espino with a ground ball to the short stop that was miss-played. Kyle Simmons would drive in Louie Diaz for the final run of the game.

Game #2:         Jefferson 8 – Columbia Greene 3

Another strong pitching performance in the second game in the double header for Jefferson behind sophomore Mitchell DuBois (Oneida, NY). DuBois piched 4.67 innings allowing 4 hits, walking 1, and struck out 2 to earn the divisional victory. Eury Villalona (Brooklyn, NY) entered the game in the bottom of the 5th closing out the final 2.33 innings only allowing 2 hits. At the plate Louie Diaz (Chicago, IL) and Michael Mosher (Pulaski, NY) both contributed 3 hits a piece with 1 RBI. Kyle Simmons provided a key 2 out double that drove in 2 in the victory.
