Jefferson Baseball 2014

Cannoneers Spilt Doubleheaders with Herkimer and Hudson Valley

In both double headers versus Herkimer and Hudson Valley, Jefferson could do enough to stop Herkimer and Hudson Valley rallies falling in 5 innings in both games.

In game two versus Herkimer, the Cannoneers would go onto win 5-3 behind starter Eury Villalona (Brooklyn, NY). Villalona would do enough to keep the General bats off balance, picking up his third win of the 2014 season. Offensively, the Cannoneers scored four runs in the top of the 7th to pick up the victory over Herkimer. Freshmen Shavict Lora (Bronx, NY) hit a bases clearing double on a 2-2 count, with 2 outs driving in the eventual go ahead run. Freshmen TJ Montalbano (Dix Hills, NY) added in two hits.

In game two versus Hudson Valley, starter Kyle Simmons (Watertown, NY) pitched into the 5th holding a 2-0 lead before Hudson Valley tacked on their first run. Freshmen James Snelgrove (Aclelaide, Australia) would enter in on the mound in the 6th inning and earn his first collegiate victory. Offensively the Cannoneers scored 3 runs in the top of the 7th to secure the victory. Sophomore Jason Hardie (Ajax, Ontario, Canada) provided the tying RBI, while Sophomore Elliot Martin (Turin, NY) and Michael Wood (Seneca Falls, NY) each provided an RBI in the inning.

The Cannoneers now sit at 2-2 in the Eastern Division and return to action Thursday in Hudson, New York versus divisional opponent, Columbia-Greene.
