Jefferson Sweeps Clinton at Home

Game 1: Clinton 2 – Jefferson 12

The Cannoneers earned the victory behind a complete game, 6 strikeout, 3 hit outing from starter Dustin Pond (Watertown, NY). This marked the first career collegiate win on the mound for the Watertown High School standout. At the plate, Jason Hardie (Ajax, Ontario) and TJ Montalbano (Dix Hills, NY) lead the way with 3 hits each. Sophomores Kyle Simmons (Watertown, NY) and Elliot Martin (Turin, NY) also provided 2 hits apiece in the Cannoneers 14 hit attack in game one.

Game 2: Clinton 2 – Jefferson 12

Sophomore Eury Villalona (Brooklyn, NY) took the mound for the start in game 2 earning his fourth victory of 2014. Villalona now stands at 4-1 on the season with a 2.50 ERA. In the game Villalona pitched a complete game, striking out 5. At the plate for Jefferson, Kyle Simmons (Watertown, NY) added 3 more hits with a double and 3 RBI bringing his total for the day at 5 hits. Calder Roggie (Lowville, NY), TJ Montalbano (Dix Hills, NY) and Shavict Lora (Bronx, NY) each contributed 2 hits apiece. Lora at the plate also added a double, and a 2 run home run totaling at 3 RBI.

The Cannoneers are on a bye this weekend and will enter next week with their fullest schedule of the year playing 10 games in 6 days. Jefferson now sits overall at 11-12 on the year with a 5-7 Eastern Division record. The Cannoneers travel to Schenectady CCC on Tuesday for their next game, and will host Schenectady CCC next Thursday at the Watertown Fairgrounds with first pitch scheduled for 2pm.
