Sophomore Captain Michael Wood commits to NCAA Division II Davis & Elkins College

Sophomore 3rd basemen Michael Wood from Seneca Falls, New York has verbally committed to NCAA Division II Davis & Elkins College in Elkins, West Virginia. The Davis & Elkins Senators compete in the Great Midwestern Conference for Head Coach Charlie Goens.

Wood had a promising freshmen season for the Cannoneers hitting .345 and providing great defense on the left corner of the infield. Wood was voted by the coaches as the only captain for the 2015 season for his dedication, hard work, and knowledge of the game. He will be counted on to transfer to Davis & Elkins to provide an impact on the field right away next fall.

For the Cannoneers, Wood is the fifth player in the last two years to transfer to a Division II program in the state of West Virginia. In 2013, Louie Diaz and Nathan Mastervick transferred to Salem International University, and in 2014 James Adydan also transferred to Salem International while Jason Hardie signed at West Virginia Wesleyan.
