Cannoneers Open with a Doubleheader Sweep to Start their New York City Trip

Game 1: Jefferson 5 - BMCC 2

Starting for the Cannoneers was sophomore pitcher Al Davis. Davis took a no-hitter into the 5th inning before allowing the games only hit with one out in the frame. He would pitch a total of 4 1/3 innings striking out 5, walking 3, and allowing the one hit to earn his first victory of the 2016 season. 
In relief of Davis, freshmen Andrew Dayton pitched  1 2/3 innings, striking out 1 in his college debut to record the hold. Sophomore Christopher Johannesson was called on in the 7th to close out game one and delivered with a 1 inning, 1 strike out performance earning the save.
Offensively for the Cannoneers, they couldn't get anything going for the first two innings. In the top of the 3rd freshmen John Andrews blasted a no out home run over the left field wall to take a 1-0 lead. Freshmen Victor Christiansen would later double and score on Sophomore Hunter Thomas's double. Sophomore catcher Jason Pastuizaca would single plating Thomas to bring the score to 3-0. In the 4th Christiansen would double again, and eventually score on a fielders choice hit by Thomas to make it a 4-0 Cannoneer lead.
BMCC tacked on 2 runs in the 4th making the score entering the top of the 5th 4-2. Lead off pinch hitter Killian Ladue knocked a 1-0 pitch over the left field wall for his first collegiate home run brining the score to 5-2 and would be all the Cannoneers need to earn a game one victory.
Game 2: Jefferson 10 - BMCC 0

In the second game freshmen Jarrod Bellinger would get the start and did not disappoint. Bellinger would pitch 5 innings allowing just 4 hits and striking out 9 to earn his first collegiate win. Freshmen Javier Ventura pitched a scoreless inning in relief and struck out 2.
Offensively the Cannoneers couldn't get anything going again for the first 2 innings. In the 3rd freshmen Emmanuel Olivo hit a 1 out single, followed by a walk from sophomore Joel Reynoso. Freshmen John Andrews would reach on an error brining in Olivo to score. Sophomore Eder Hernandez would get on base from a fielders choice, but the Cannoneers couldn't score on the play brining up Hunter Thomas. Thomas took a bases loaded 1-0 pitch deep over the left field wall for a Grand Slam and making the score 5-0.
In the 4th, Killian Ladue would hit a solo home run to dead center, his second of the day to make the score 6-0 starting a 5 run rally for the Cannoneers who ended the frame with a 9-0 lead.
In the 6th a lead off single by John Andrews set up an eventual RBI walk from Killian Ladue to make the score 10-0 and would be all that was needed to close out the game 2 victory in 6 innings. 
The double header sweep brings the Cannoneers overall record to 2-2 on the season. They will face Westchester CC on Friday in a doubleheader at 4pm and 6pm, played at the town of West Harrison's turf field.
