Cannoneers sweep 3rd ranked Region III Eastern Division opponent Hudson Valley

Game 1: JEFFERSON 4 – Hudson Valley 3

Jefferson would put the first run on the board in the second inning when Toure Parpit-Sincalir scored off a fielding error hit by John Andrews. Hudson Valley would score in similar fashion in the bottom of the third knotting the game at 1 apiece. Both Cannoneer starter Al Davis and Hudson Valley starter Kyle McAlonie kept hitters off balance avoiding any big innings.

The Cannoneers would find themselves down by one entering the top of the 7th inning and would get a run across by walking four batters with Victor Christiansen getting the base on balls RBI to tie the game at 2.

Al Davis would hold Hudson Valley at 2 in the bottom of the 7th sending the first game of the four game series into extra innings. In the top of the 8th Hunter Thomas lead off with a walk and was sacrificed over by Edward Corniel. Thomas would eventually get to third on a pass ball and two more Cannoneer batters would draw walks loading the bases with 2 outs for John Andrews. Andrews hit a 0-1 pitch into shallow right center scoring Thomas and Parpit-Sinclair taking a 4-2 lead.

In the bottom half Hudson Valley would score and leave a runner on third base while the 3rd and final out of the game was a fly ball to centerfield. Al Davis earned the complete game win to move his overall record to 4-3 on the season.

 

Game 2: JEFFERSON 8 – Hudson Valley 7

The Cannoneers fell behind early 4-0 after a big first inning from Hudson Valley. Jefferson responded in the top the 3rd tying the game at 4 with a big inning of their own. In the frame Victor Christiansen started the rally with a triple to deep center which was followed by an RBI single from Joel Reynoso. Hunter Thomas then doubled scoring Reynoso. Cannoneer clean up Edward Corniel then drove an outside fastball over the right field wall for a two run home run to tie the game at 4.

Jefferson would put freshmen pitcher George Amalvert on the mound in the bottom of the 3rd and allowed just 2 runs the rest of the contest. Hudson would add their two runs to make the score 6-4 entering into the top of the 5th when the Cannoneers would have another big inning. In the 5th Joel Reynoso led off with a base hit. Hunter Thomas would reach base on a fielder's choice and would score off another fielder's choice from Toure Parpit-Sinclair. Freshmen Michael Espino would then hit a two run home run over the right field wall giving the Cannoneers a one run lead.

Hudson Valley would put up another run in the bottom of the 5th tying the game at 7. In the top of the 6th, with 2 outs Victor Christiansen doubled and scored off a RBI single from Joel Reynoso. Amalvert would get the final six outs of the game without allowing a base runner to earn the win in relief moving his overall season record to 2-0.

The Eastern Division sweep moves the Cannoneers record to 17-17 overall and 9-7 in the Eastern Division. Hudson Valley travels to Watertown Thursday to complete the four game set with a double header at the Fairgrounds. First pitch for game one is scheduled for 2pm.
