Sophomore Athletes Recognized

From Coach Woodward:

Dalian Ramos:

In her sophomore season, Dalian has brought to us an energy and mental toughness that is second to none.  "D" has started 15 out of 25 games this year making major contributions on the defensive end recording 47 steals, and leading the team in charges taken. "D" has an enthusiasm for her teammates and to play the game that as a coach you would love to encounter in every player you ever have the opportunity to coach.  Dalian is an Early Childhood education major and will be graduating next December; from there she will be attending a four year institution to complete her Bachelor's degree with the aspirations of becoming a Kindergarten teacher.  "D" I can't thank you enough for everything you have given us this year. The mental, emotional, and physical beating each and every one of us takes through the season is something that no one without experience would understand, and every day like the last you bring the enthusiasm, and mental mindset that has help to lift our team, as well as the always much needed comic relief! I wish you the best of luck in your future, and as always my door, and practices will always be open!

Amber Dibble:

Amber brings us the shear will to win, determination and a competitive edge that has led her to be the successful athlete she is today.  As a sophomore Amber has averaged 8 points and 8 rebounds a game through her career. On February 18th, 2012 Amber recorded a single game total of 20 rebounds. An injury laden career at Jefferson statistically doesn't do Amber justice for the athlete and basketball player she really is. In conversations with friends, family, and people who watched Amber play throughout High school I always comment on her physical strength, will to compete, and shear determination.  I say "If I told Amber we would win if she ran through that wall, she would take off knock down the wall, turn around and come back through it again." Amber will graduate this May, and will be attending Brockport this fall to continue her education in the field of Athletic Training.

Amber will forever be one of only two players ever who will have been part of my first two teams as a Women's College Basketball Coach. One of two faces that will always be the framework of our programs future, the ups and downs, the time, and effort will always come back to you, Morgan and the last two years. I can't thank you enough for the time you have put in, as always my door is always open for whatever you may need, you will always be a part of the program, and I hope the program will continue to be a part of you.

Morgan Kiernan:

The first thing that comes to mind when I think of Morgan Kiernan is COMPETITOR. As a coach it is a relieving feeling knowing that when you walk in the gym whether its practice or a game that you have the kid on the floor that won't let anyone ever get the best of her. Whether she's the most talented on the floor or not I have yet to see anyone ever get the best of Mo. I wish I had a dollar for every time that I'm out recruiting or hear from a fan "Man Morgan Kiernan is just tough." My response jokingly has always been " Isn't she? I would never mess with her..."

In her two year career at Jefferson Morgan has averaged 14.1 points per game, 6.7 rebounds per game, and 2.6 steals per game. Morgan has made 309 free throws in 50 games played in a Cannoneer Uniform while shooting 72% from the line. This places her first all-time in free throws made and attempted. With several games remaining Morgan finds herself with a chance to crack the all-time top ten career scoring list. Morgan plans on attending either LIM, or FIT in the fall to further her education in obtaining a bachelors degree with aspirations of working in the fashion industry.

It seems like everyday we speak as a team about progressing and taking steps forward. Morgan and I both set foot as rookies in our perspective roles at Jefferson last fall, Morgan has been my point guard, my captain, and now forever as I see it, the face and building block of what will be The Jefferson Women's Basketball program under my reign. Mo I can't thank you enough for what you have given myself, and our program over the last two years. My office door, and practices are always open! I wish you the best of luck with everything you may encounter!

From Coach Bridge:

Andrew McNitt:

Andrew is an Engineering Science Major with just under a 3.0 GPA.  Off the court he has provided great leadership for our freshman.  Andrew spends time working as a tutor in our Athletic Study Hall Program.  On the court Andrew has started 20 games for us over the last two years, doing the little things that go unnoticed.  He is willing to battle night in and night out with the opponent's bigger players.  Currently Andrew is leading the Mid-State Conference with 2.4 blocks per game.

Derrick Williams:

Derrick is a Criminal Justice major that is looking to graduate this spring.  After Jefferson he is hoping to continue his playing career at a 4 year institution, with several schools recruiting him.  Derrick is currently ranked 4th in Region 3 and the Mid-state Conference in scoring with 16.4 points per game.  Defensively he is also ranked 9th in the Mid-State Conference averaging almost 2 steals per game.
