The Cannoneers Lose Two Tough Games

The Men's basketball team traveled to Corning Saturday and came out on the losing end of 98-65 defeat.  The Red Barons of Corning were "red hot" from the 3 point arc as they made 13 from beyond the arc and shot 56% for the game.  The Cannoneers on the other hand were cold from the arc only shooting 20% and making 2 for the game.  Once again, Dustin Pond led the way with 25 points and 7 assists.  Al Alston had a career best 9 points and 7 rebounds.  Kenny thomas chipped in with 9 points and 5 boards in the losing effort.

On Sunday, the Cannoneers hosted one of the top 5 teams in the region, Clinton Community College of Plattsburgh and came out strong.  After the first half, the score was 36-31 Cannoneers as they played inspired basketball.  The second half didn't fair as well as the Cannoneers couldn't contain the inside out play of Clinton.  The Cougars have the tallest player in region at 6'10" Krecko and even though he got 20 points and 15 rebounds, the Cannoneers out rebounded the Cougars by 52-45.  Had it not been for a couple of costly turnovers late in the game, the Cannoneers could have pulled the upset.  In the end, The Cannoneers gave a great effort and lost the closely contested contest by a score of 73-67.  Leading the way for JCC were Dustin Pond with 19 points and 16 rebounds and Kenny Thomas with 16 points and 7 rebounds.  Troy McAdam had a solid game with 10 points as did Caleb Green with 9 points.

The Cannoneers are back in MSAC action as they travel to Binghamton Saturday to take on Broome Community College.
