Jefferson Loses Close one to the Lazers

The Cannoneers traveled to Syracuse to take on the Lakers of Onondaga CC Saturday afternoon and lost a heartbreaking game by the score of 103-102 as the Lazers hit a 3 point shot with 1.1 seconds to go.  The Cannoneers started slowly and didn't find their offensive rhythm until 14 minutes left in the second, trailing by 19 points.  It was then that everything started clicking and the Cannoneers had finally gained the lead with 17.7 seconds on a jump shot from Natell Windley.  The Cannoneers defended well and had a chance to grab the rebound only to see it slip through their hands and give OCC one last chance.  On the inbound play with 5.5 seconds left the Lazers found the open man and made the 3 pointer to gain the win.  Natell Windley led the way with 26 points, followed by Karaan Newsome with 25 points and 7 rebounds, Javon Hunter with 19 points and Latrelle Lee with 16 points and 8 rebounds.  Next up for the Cannoneers are 2 conference games at home to close out the season.
