Cannoneers Fall Short Against the Lazers

The Cannoneers hosted the number two team in the region on Saturday, Onondaga, and just fell short to the Lazers by the score of 81-78.  It was a spirited game that didn't disappoint anyone who came to watch.  The Lazers would jump out to a quick 10 point lead only to see the Cannoneers fight their way back into the game and trail by 5 at halftime.  With a few adjustments the Cannoneers would play much better in the second half and lead the game by 5 with about 5 minutes to go, only to see that lead disappear as the Lazers got hot from the outside.  Some costly turnovers in the last five minutes doomed the Cannoneers.

The Cannoneers were lead by by Josh Newman's 16 point/11 rebound effort.  Following him were Howard Turner with 14 points, Isiah Murphy with 13 points, and Liam Bonk with 12 points.  Good performances were turned in by subsitutes Kyle Nichols 9 points and Samori Alexander with 8 points/7 rebounds.  Next up is a tough road game at Corning in Region 3 play.
