Jefferson Men's Soccer Team

Cannoneers Drop Two

The Jefferson men's soccer team opened their season at home on Wednesday against Tompkins Cortland, only to find the panthers more prepared to play. The game was even for the first 20 minutes and then TC3 scored on two restarts to take a 2-0 lead and never look back. The final score would be 8-0 in favor of Tompkins Cortland.

On Saturday the Cannoneers would travel to Buffalo to take on another tough competitor in Erie Community College and play a much more spirited game of soccer. Once again, restarts were the downfall of the Cannoneers as they saw Erie convert 4 restarts into goals and take a commanding 5-0 lead at halftime. The Cannoneers would play the Kats to a 1-1 tie in the second half. The Cannoneers came out spirited and would score on a neat play from Edward Goodall to Hunter Birchenough who finished off the cross perfectly. ECC would close out the scoring in the second half and the Cannoneers would find themselves on the short end of 6-1 loss.
