Cannoneers Lose Heartbreaker

Cannoneers Lose Heartbreaker

The Cannoneers traveled to Finger Lakes Community College in search of their first win of the season and came oh so close.  After playing the Lakers to an even first half and trailing by the score of 1-0, the Cannoneers played inspired soccer in the second half and took it to the Lakers.  The Cannoneers Aaron Zehr would tie the game on a corner kick, after the Cannoneers were pressing forward. Within the next 2 minutes, the Cannoneers would strike again on a beautifully placed strike by Tanner Docteur to take a 2-1 lead with 20 minutes to go.  The Lakers would fight back and be awarded a penalty kick with 15 minutes to go to tie the game.  The final 15 minutes would be back and forth with both teams having opportunities to win the game.  In overtime, the Lakers would win the ball at midfield and get forward to make a cross and head through the winning goal.  A great effort by the Cannoneers , but just short.  Next up is alumni weekend for the Cannoneers as they host Clinton.
