Coach Vaadi vs SUNY Adirondack

Cannoneers suffer heartbreaking loss

The Cannoneers were looking for their first win of the season as they hosted the Barons of Corning Corning Community.  It looked like the Cannoneers would succeed and came out playing inspired soccer.  Edward Goodall would give the Cannoneers a 1-0 lead off a corner kick, then minutes later, Goodall would score again to put the Cannoneers up 2-0.  Shortly before half, Aaron Zehr would score from 30 yards out to give the Cannoneers a commanding 3-0 lead at the break.  The second half would not be as kind to the Cannoneers as Corning came out firing on all cylinders.  They would pepper the Cannoneer goalkeeper from the start and finally broke through, to cut the deficit to 3-1 The Cannoneers came back strong, but missed a great chance, as the breakaway was thwarted by the Corning keeper.  Corning would keep coming and score shortly after to cut the deficit to 3-2 and then finally break through for the tying goal to force overtime.  It was evenly played in the first overtime and then a defensive mistake cost the Cannoneers as Corning found the back of the net for the win.  A well played match, but a very tough loss.
