Cannoneers Win Season Opener Against the Hawks

After a year hiatus, the Cannoneers Women's Lacrosse team beat the Mohawk Valley Community College Hawks 18-3 to start their season. From the first draw, the Cannoneers were in control. Led by a pair of goals each from Hanna Misercola and Kylie Guyette, the team jumped to an early 4-0 lead. The Hawks fought back halfway through the first half to cut the lead to 5-2 but that would be the closest the score would be. The Cannoneers continued to dominate the first half and took a 11-2 lead heading into halftime. The second half began with a quick goal from the Hawks, but that spark was short lived. Jefferson continued to pour it on in the second half, scoring 7 more goals. The team was led by captains, Natalie Cole and Hanna Misercola, who had half of the team's points. Cole went 4-4 on shooting and had 1 assist for a total of 5 points, in addition with 5 ground balls and 7 caused turnovers. Misercola went 4-5 shooting for 4 goals and raked up 5 ground balls 2 caused turnovers. Newcomer, Samantha Clement went 4-7 on shooting with 4 goals and collected 6 ground balls and 4 caused turnovers. Kylie Guyette and Morgan Eggleston each had a hat trick. The defense was led by goalie, Kelsey McLaughlin, who faced 5 shots and had 2 saves.

The Lady Cannoneers look to continue their winning ways with their upcoming game against North Valley on Saturday April 6th 2 p.m.
