Jefferson Volleyball Wins Tough Conference Match Against Corning

Jefferson started their weekend with a much needed win in a tough conference match against Corning Communituy College on Friday, September 15th.  The team came away with a victory in 4 sets:  18-25, 29-27, 25-20, and 26-24.  The Lady Cannoneers unfortunately did not carry this momentum into Saturday and dropped all three matches.  They were defeated by Finger Lakes Community College in 4 sets:  19-25, 25-14, 22-25, and 20-25.  Monroe Community College beat Jefferson in 3 sets:  11-25, 22-25, and 25-27.  Finally, a tough battle with Genesee Community College ended in a 5 set loss:  18-25, 11-25, 25-14, 25-21, and 12-15.  This young team is really struggling to put together some wins before it is too late to qualify for Regional play in October.  Xanara Ruiz lead the way this weekend with 66 kills and 67 digs.  Bryanna Gagnon chipped in 84 digs and 32 kills, Alexa Runyon added 32 kills and 13 blocks, Kiley Ardison finished with 61 digs and Mallory Harter added 122 assists.  Josie Wood tallied 17 service points, Cassie Branagan finished with 20 digs, Jenna Wilson added 38 digs, while Mariah Corbett chipped in 14 digs, and Courtney Boliver finished with 19 service points.  The team will travel to Broome for another tough conference match on Wednesday.
