Jefferson Volleyball Wins Move them to 4-2 in the Conference

The Lady Cannoneers competed in the Cara Bryant Invitational at Onondaga Community College this past weekend and made it to semi-finals, only to lose against Nationally Ranked Northampton.  Jefferson is finally headed in the right direction and came away 4-2 on the weekend.  In pool play, Jefferson faced Northampton first and lost in 2 sets:  14-25 and 15-25.  Then JCC went on a winning streak defeating Genesee in two sets:  25-20 and 25-19, Broome in two sets:  25-21 and 25-15, and Cayuga in two sets:  25-19 and 25-15.  This put Jefferson in third place going into the playoffs and faced Genesee once again, only to win again, in two sets:  26-24 and 25-22.  Northampton was up next and Jefferson fell in two sets:  14-25 and 22-25.  Northampton ended up losing in the finals to OCC in three sets.  Xanara Ruiz once again had a solid weekend racking up 54 kills and 35 digs.  Mallory Harter really stepped it up and was named to the Cara Bryant All-Tournament Team tallying 22 digs and 81 assists.  Bryanna Gagnon added 27 kills and 48 digs, Kiley Ardison led the defense with 60 digs, Cassie Branagan added 25 digs, Vanessa Vallance finished with 12 digs and Mariah Corbett added 14 digs respectively.  Alexa Runyan was big in the middle with 12 blocks and 16 kills, Josie Wood added 6 kills, and Courtney Boliver finished with 15 assists.  The team travels to TC3 on Tuesday for their last conference match.  

Jefferson Volleyball traveled to TC3 Tuesday night for their final conference match and came away with a win in 3 sets:  25-7, 25-12, and 25-15.  This win moves Jefferson to 4-2 in the conference which will put them safely into the top 4 teams playing for the conference championship on October 21st.  Cassandra Branagan came away with 12 digs, Alexa Runyon had 5 kills, and Xanara Ruiz added 8 kills to lead the way.  The win takes Jefferson to 17-11 overall and gives them some momentum for 3 crucial regional matches coming up at Niagara for the last POD of the season.
