Jefferson Hosts the 2019 Volleyball Invitational

The Lady Cannoneers hosted the annual Invite Tournament on September 7, 2019 and fell short in the championship match to SUNY Broome in 3 sets.  In pool play Jefferson took care of each of their opponents in 2 sets.  They defeated Mohawk Valley Community College first 25-17 & 25-15, then beat Broome 27-25 & 25-18, and finally took care of Herkimer College 25-8 & 25-23.  This put Jefferson first in their pool which means they would be playing Finger Lakes Community College in the semi-finals.  Jefferson lost the first set 22-15, won the second set 25-13, and then came back in the third set to win in extra points 16-14.  Meanwhile, Broome defeated Monroe in 2 straight sets so Jefferson would face SUNY Broome again in the finals.  Jefferson lost the first set 24-26, won the second set 25-23, but dug much of a hole in the third set and lost 9-15.  This was the first loss for the Lady Cannoneers, putting the team at 8-1 overall currently.  Allison Burrows had a very solid day finishing with 46 service points, 40 kills, and 50 digs respectively.  Marjorie Vazquez also had a very solid day compiling 7 blocks, 40 digs, 42 kills, and 20 service points.  Brooke Everson and Grace Gehrke each tacked on 13 kills, Alyssa Evans added 7 kills while Aliza Deasy ended with 5 kills.  Jenna Wilson finished with 39 digs, Nicole O'Connor chipped in 23 digs, and Abigail Sullivan added 5 digs.
