Killino and Mills Named Jefferson Co-Athletes of the Week
Freshman pitcher/outfielder, Layla M. Killino of the Jefferson Community College (JCC) softball team, and sophomore left-handed golfer, Jack C. Mills, of the Jefferson Community College golf team, were named JCC co-athletes of the week ending April 13, 2025.
Layla, a 2024 graduate of Camden Central High School, is majoring in Psychology at Jefferson. Killino’s accomplishments on the mound this past week include pitching 13 innings in 4 games. She pitched 2 wins, 0 losses, and 2 shutouts. Layla also had a 2.15 ERA and held her opponents to .149 batting average. She struck out 18 batters and only walked 4.
Jack, a 2023 graduate of Ogdensburg City School District, is majoring in Sports Management at Jefferson. Mills’ accomplishments on the course this past week included having an impressive start to the season as he shot a 79 at both the Tompkins Cortland and Onondaga invitationals. He was a top 15 finisher at TC3 and a top 10 finisher on Saturday at the OCC tournament.
Despite having no outdoor practices beforehand and facing tough course conditions, Jack still delivered two very solid performances. His hard work during the offseason has for sure paid off.
