Braiden Bley set the tone for the Cannoneers in their opening game of 2025 East Division play by pitching 4 1/3 innings, allowing just 1 run. Tom Beeckmans and Daniel Storey would pitch in relief to secure the 8-4 win. At the plate, Oiram Williams drove in 3 runs and Ben Loevenmark drove in 2. Robert Leyva had a multi-hit game.
Away game 2 CG:
Mekhi Smithwick kept the strong pitching going for JCC in game 2, throwing a 5-inning complete game shutout to lock down a 14-0 win to complete the road sweep of the Twins. Smithwick struck out 5 in the effort. Robert Leyva drove in 3 runs, while Anthony Celar and Oiram Williams drove in 2 each. Celar and Braiden Bley each had extra base hits in the strong offensive day.
Home game 1 CG:
On a cold Sunday, the Cannoneers had a nice 10-hit, 10-run game at the plate. The Jefferson offense was powered by 2 RBI apiece from Mike Caraballo, Josh Matteson, and Allen Benton. 5 different JCC batters had a double, while Matteson legged out a big triple. Konnor Facteau pitched 3 1/3 innings in the start, with Daniel Storey and Tom Beeckmans relieving. Beeckmans threw a strong 3 1/13 innings, allowing just 1 run and striking out 5.
Home game 2 CG:
The JCC bats would continue their hot hitting with a third straight double digit scoring performance, completing the 4-game sweep. Ryan Murnane drove in 3 runs from the leadoff spot, while Robert Leyva, Anthony Celar, Braiden Bley, and Allen Benton each drove in 2 runs. Bley had a double, while Murnane and Benton each had triples. Nate Van Wie had a strong start on the mound, completing 4 innings pitched, allowed just 2 runs and striking out 3.
