Fortnite Dominance and Playoff Battles

The Fortnite teams combined for an impressive 22-7 record this semester:

  • Team 1: Featuring Ian Jarrard, Andrew Pierce, and Ruby Stump, this squad dominated the regular season with a 15-1 record, highlighted by a jaw-dropping 40+ elimination win. However, despite their regular-season success, the team faced an early exit in the playoffs, being eliminated in the first round.
  • Team 2: Carson Chambers and Trevor McIntyre began with a modest 7-6 record but showcased consistent improvement throughout the season. Their hard work paid off in the playoffs with a thrilling first-round victory over Herkimer, powered by a 21-elimination performance. Unfortunately, their journey ended in the second round.

Super Smash Bros. Success

The Super Smash Bros. team, comprised of Dan Peguerra, Jack Rattray, Remi McCauley, and Harry Scott, delivered an impressive combined record of 22-13 during the regular season.

  • Dan, Jack, and Harry advanced past the first round of the playoff tournament.
  • Jack Rattray displayed exceptional grit, rallying from a 0-2 deficit to win his match 3-2 in the opening round. His momentum carried him to the third round before being eliminated in a 3-0 match.

Overwatch Improvements

The Overwatch teams faced challenges early in the semester but displayed remarkable growth. With strong leadership from tank player Cole Johnson and support player Will Schroeder, the teams closed the regular season by winning three of their last four matches. Their determination earned them a playoff appearance, with one team advancing past the first round.

Other Titles and Looking Ahead

While teams competing in Valorant, Call of Duty, and Mario Kart faced a challenging semester, the players gained valuable experience and are focused on improving for the spring season.

The SUNY Jefferson Esports community is buzzing with excitement about the possibility of adding new games to the league, fostering a growing interest in esports on campus.
