Cannoneers Open Mid-States With Impressive Win at Home

The Cannoneers got 2015 off to a great start with an impressive, come from behind victory over Tompkins Cortland Community College at home to go 1-0 in conference.  The Cannoneers trailed at half by four, but kept working together and finally got the lead for good with 44 seconds left on a 3 point shot from Caleb Green(12 points).  The Cannoneers then held on for the win, 67-64.  It was a great team effort, led by Terrin "Pop" Roland with 15 points, 9 rebounds and 8 assists.  Javon Hunter added 18 points, 3 assists and Islam Haggag added 10 points, 7 rebounds for the balanced Cannoneer attack.

On Sunday, the Cannoneers traveled to Finger Lakes Community College to take on the Lakers, who some believe to be the best team in the region.  After getting down early, the Cannoneers got back in the game and found themselves only down 9 points at half.  The second half started slowly for the Cannoneers and with 8:30 minutes to go they found themselves down by 23 points.  With 44 seconds left Terrin Roland hit a 3 pointer to cut the lead to 5.  The Cannoneers would get a steal only to give it right back to the Lakers who then made 4 free throws to account for the final score of FLCC 83-JCC 74.  Spearheading the comeback for the Cannoneers was Javon Hunter who finished with 23 points and 5 assists.  Caleb Green chipped in with 12 points followed by Terrin Roland and Ismaeel Safo with 9 points a piece.  The Cannoneers host Cayuga CC in another Mid-State Conference game Tuesday at 7 pm.
