Birmingham Tosses a Perfect Game Against the Lady Timberwolves

Jefferson hosts SUNY Adirondack for a weekend doubleheader.  Game 1 was highlighted by the brilliant pitching performance by Emily Birmingham.  Birmingham tossed a PERFECT GAME gem; striking out 17 of the 18 batters she faced with the 18th out being recorded on a pop fly back to Birmingham.  Emily threw only 68 pitches in the game to complete this accomplishment, and threw just 13 pitches out of the zone.  Her final line was 6 IP, 17 Ks, 0 BB.  Offensively, Kiannah Ward drove in a pair of RBIs, and Rachael Shackleton led the team with 2 hits with her own RBI which ended up being the game ending run to allow the Cannoneers to win 8-0 in 6 innings.

Game 2 saw another dominant pitching performance - this time by Rachael Shackleton.  Shackleton also pitched a complete game, striking out 14 batters and allowing no free bases.  Rachael also did not allow an earned run in her effort, and her final line was 6 IP, 14 Ks, 0 BB.  The offense struck for 14 hits in game 2.  Jadyn Childers, Brooke Beleza, Kiannah Ward, and Hailey McGrew all recorded multiple hits in the game.  Childers was 3-4 in the game with a pair of RBIs, as McGrew also drove in 2.  Ward kept her hot hitting going from game 1 with 2 homeruns and 3 RBIs to propel the Cannoneers to a 10-1 game 2 victory in 6 innings.
