Jefferson Volleyball Brings Home the MSAC Championship!

On Saturday the #4 seed Jefferson defeated #1 undefeated OCC in three sets to start the day off in semi finals:  25-9, 25-23, 25-16.  They then advanced to finals against Finger Lakes and defeated the #2 seed in three sets also:  28-26, 29-27, 25-14. Captain Haley Riley was named to the All-Conference team and was also named the Tournament MVP.  She finished the day with 31 kills, 6 blocks, and 21 digs.  Jayne Strigle was also named to the All-Conference team and compiled 41 digs to lead the defense once again.  Rachael Waite had a very strong day adding 16 kills and 29 digs.  Grace Wallace finished with 11 digs, 12 kills, and 13 service points while Mel Fakatou had 14 service points, 12 kills,  and 13 digs.  Kelly Musgraves helped with the defensive charge by compiling 14 digs and Miquella Farris added 4 digs.  Jenna Hibbard ended the day with 71 assists and 13 service points while Olivia Heiler added 5 assists.  Nikki Wormwood once again came up strong with 22 service points to lead the Cannoneers in serving points.  Marissa Brown added 8 kills and 4 blocks as well.

This was a team effort and the girls played the best volleyball of the season to earn the championship plaque.  This certainly gives the team even more confidence as we head into Regional play this weekend.  Two years ago we were MSAC Champions, last year we were Runners-Up, and now we are champions again!  Congratulations JCC Volleyball!
