Jefferson Volleyball Season Ends

The Lady Cannoneers finished their season on Saturday at Regional Play.  The team first played #2 ranked Fulton Montgomery and fell in all three sets:  14-25, 21-25, 20-25.  They then faced #3 ranked Adirondack and took the last set from them:  20-25, 22-25, 25-15.  Finally the team faced #7 ranked Finger Lakes and took 2 out of 3 sets:  25-17, 19-25, 25-20.  It was a tough day of playing but the ladies are proud to end the season as MSAC Champions with an overall record of 21-15.  Rachael Waite was named to the All-Tournament Team and led the way with 31 digs and 9 kills while Jayne Strigle supplied 49 digs and Kelly Musgraves added 13 digs.  Haley Riley was named to the 2nd Team All-Region and compiled 24 digs, 30 kills, and 11 service points.  Mel Fakatou had a solid day with 17 service points, 15 kills, and 16 digs.  Grace Wallace added 8 digs and 9 kills while Marissa Brown finished with 8 kills and 5 blocks.  Jenna Hibbard added 50 assists while Olivia Heiler had 15 to finish the day.  Nikki Wormwood was our key server again and added 21 service points, Samantha Storey added 4 service points, and Miquella finished the day with 2 kills and 5 digs.  All in all it was a very successful season for the Lady Cannoneers again, qualifying for the third straight year for regional play, bringing back the MSAC Championship and earning 21 wins.  Coach Kent and Coach Duffer look forward to an off-season full of recruiting!  Sophomores Haley, Jenna, Sam, Nikki, and Rachael will certainly be missed, thanks for another great year!
