The Lady Cannoneers Fall Short in the NJCAA Region III Regional Volleyball Championship Tournament.

The Lady Cannoneers Fall Short in the NJCAA Region III Regional Volleyball Championship Tournament.

The Women's Volleyball Team came about as close as you can come to advancing to the semi-finals on Saturday, October 31st in the 2015 NJCAA Region III Regional Volleyball Championship, hosted by Niagara County Community College.  Out of the 9 sets played in pool play, 7 games ended with only the 2 point margin for the final score, and 4 out of those 7 sets went to extra points.  The Lady Cannoneers only needed to take one set from Genesee in the final round of pool play but just couldn't pull through.  In the first round, Jefferson went 1-2 with OCC:  25-23, 25-27, and 23-25.  In the second round, JCC took 2 from Fulton Montgomery: 24-26, 26-24, and 25-23.  Then the Lady Cannoneers fell to Genesee 20-25, 19-25, and 24-26.  It was just not meant to be.  As the injuries piled up over the last three weeks Jefferson just couldn't generate enough offense.  The team finishes their season 24-11 overall and 2nd in the MSAC Conference, certainly a season to be proud of.  Grace Wallace fought through a sprained ankle and finished with 29 service points, 47 digs, and 14 kills.  Cassie Birth also played through a knee injury and ended with 26 kills, 63 digs, and 16 service points.  Chloe Stinebrickner had a strong day compiling 13 service points, 23 digs, and 65 assists.  Jenna Scott paid through pain as well and finished with 46 digs and 17 service points.  Alea Gentles was a strong force at the net for us and really was the only one dominating the offense, she finished with 29 kills and 8 blocks.  Kaety Hanlin had a steady day with 4 blocks, 5 kills, and 11 service points.  Miquella Farris finished with 33 digs and 4 kills while Olivia Heiler stepped in with 18 service points and 9 digs.  Cassie was named to the 2nd team All-Region while Jenna and Chloe were named to the 3rd team All-Region.  Alea Gentles was named to the the All-Region All-Tournament Team.

A note from Coach Kolenda:  As the season comes to an end I would like to thank the girls for all of their hard work and dedication.  Time after time this team proved that once again Jefferson will be a force to compete with at the top.  JCC has competed in Regionals for the past four years and I expect nothing less next year.  Congratulations to the Sophomores on a very successful season, thank you for the memories.
