Jefferson Volleyball Ends Successful Season

Jefferson Volleyball Ends Successful Season

The Lady Cannoneers traveled to Rochester, Minnesota to compete in the NJCAA National Tournament over the weekend.  JCC went in ranked #7 so they faced #2 Ridgewater from Willmar, Minnesota in the first round and were defeated in three sets:  14-25, 19-25, and 18-25.  Northampton (PA) was defeated by Eastfield (TX) so that meant JCC would face Northampton.  The team lost a heartbreaker in the long 5 set battle:  23-25, 31-29, 28-26, 25-27, and 14-16.  This loss put the Cannoneers in the 7th/8th place bracket to face Queensborough, NY.  Again, Jefferson fell short in three sets:  21-25, 14-25, and 19-25.  Cassie Birth led the way with 41 kills and 52 digs, Chloe Stinebrickner racked up 86 assists and 33 digs, Alea Gentles contributed 21 kills, Xanara Ruiz had 24 kills, and Jenna Scott finished with 54 digs.  Meaghan LaClair added 15 digs, Paige Durdon had 6 digs, Mariah Corbett finished with 10 digs and Hannah Rook added 8 kills.  It was a tough way to end the season, but the team can certainly be proud of becoming Regional Champions for the first time ever and build upon that for next season.  Cassie, Jenna, Alea, Chloe, and Meaghan will all be missed, their leadership and dedication certainly made this season a very successful one, finishing with a record of 30-12.  Best of luck Sophomores!
