The Lady Cannoneers Fall in Home Opener

Wednesday night was the long awaited home opener for The Lady Cannoneer's. Facing off with Regional foe and the number 3 nationally ranked Mohawk Valley Hawks, Jefferson jumped out to several early first half leads, including a 24-23 lead with 4 minutes left in the 2nd quarter. At the break Mohawk led Jefferson 32-30. Back court duo Marisa Clark and Riley Luckie led the Jefferson charge each scoring double digits respectfully with 13 and 12 points. Luckie also contributed 8 assists. Coach Woodward was quoted afterwards " My kids fought like crazy tonight, they showed everyone including themselves that there is a boat load of potential in our program. With 10 new faces it's a learning process, we showed vast improvement tonight. We can't forget, but it's on to the next one for now." The Lady Cannoneer's are now 3-3 on the year, and in the middle of the hardest part of their schedule. The Lady Cannoneer's play host to Schenectady C.C this Saturday at 1 pm, and Fulton-Montgomery C.C Sunday at 1 pm.
