The Lady Cannoneers Fall Short in NJCAA Tournament Semi-Finals
On Saturday afternoon The Lady Cannoneer's took the floor for their 3rd straight final four appearance. Facing off against familiar MSAC foe Onondaga Community College proved to be a difficult feat for Jefferson. Sporting a roster of 9 freshman and 1 sophomore Lady Cannoneer's put up an effort to hang their hat on. Jefferson held the most powerful offense in the country to just 61 points, nearly 21 points under their season average. Freshman forward Kali Eyles, who was named to the All-Tournament Region III team for her performance, led the fight for Jefferson tallying 16 points and 11 rebounds, while freshman point guard Riley Luckie wasn't far behind with 14 points on four 3 point field goals made. The Lady Cannoneer's finished the season with an overall record of 18-9, finishing 2nd in the MSAC, and fourth overall in Region III.
Coach Woodward stated "Our girls did a fantastic job this year of adapting to the change in pace and level of play at the college level. I couldn't be more proud of the improvement, and fight our kids brought to the final four and continued a program's final four streak we are very proud of at Jefferson."
