The Lady Cannoneers Defeat the Visiting Lady Twins

This past weekend The Lady Cannoneers faced off with Columbia-Greene Community College on Saturday, and Region III Division II Genesee Community College on Sunday. The weekend contests were the final two games of a stretch of 4 games in 6 days for Jefferson. The Lady Cannoneers entered Saturday after a scorching performance against Herkimer on Thursday night that saw them net 81 points. They picked up right where they left off on Thursday posting a season high 93 points in the Region 3 match up. Former Hammond standouts, and sophomore duo Courtney Bova and Mikayla Horton led the 1st quarter charge for the Lady Cannoneer's. Bova scored a season best 14 points, while Horton also scored 14 points on four 3 point field goals. A sophomore led charge was the theme of the day as fellow sophomores Riley Luckie (17 points), Kali Eyles (16 points), and Susie Morrow (10 points) led the balanced scoring attack.

Headed towards the Holiday break, this year's theme for Jefferson seems to be its balanced attack. Coach Woodward said afterwards "This year we have 8 or 9 kids that could be our leading scorer on any given day. That is a pretty nice luxury to have. Today all 11 players contributed on the scoreboard and at the defensive end. This is the first year in my 6 years here, where we have the depth in talent to put numerous threats on the floor at a time." The Lady Cannoneer's would have a quick turnaround as the would face off with a tough Division II Genesee on Sunday.
