Emily B vs Monroe

The Lady Cannoneers Split with Monroe

The Cannoneers host the Tribunes of Monroe for a doubleheader at the Cannoneer Complex.  Jefferson would strike first in the first inning after a leadoff base hit from Delaney Wiley.  She would come around to score on an infield single from Kiannah Ward.  This would be the only scoring until the 5th inning when Monroe would put up a 4 spot to make the game 4-1.  Unfortunately for Jefferson, they would be unable to score after the first inning and would only tally 4 hits in the game.  The Tribunes win game 1 6-1.

Game 2 was a different story for the Cannoneers.  Katie Call would blast her first collegiate homer in the top of the first giving Jefferson the early 2-0 lead.  Jefferson would keep it rolling into the second inning as 6 straight base runners would result in a 6 run 2nd inning.  Mackenzie Lane led off the inning with a double to right center, followed by a walk from KJ Belmore and a bunt single from Felicity Roberts.  Delaney Wiley would drive in a run with a hard line drive single to left passing the baton to Emily Birmingham who would drive in two more runs with a base hit of her own.  Kiannah Ward would put a stamp on the inning with a 3 run homerun (her third of the year) pushing the lead to 8-0.  Ward would tack on another solo shot in the 5th inning (4th of the year). Birmingham had a much needed quality outing for the Cannoneers as she pitched 5 innings, allowing just 2 earned runs and striking out 5. The Cannoneers would win game 2 by a score of 11-2 in 5 innings.
