Jefferson Women's Basketball Championship Weekend Recap

The Lady Cannoneers made us proud this past weekend, making the 2025 NJCAA Division III National Championship game against Rochester Community and Technical, for the first time since 1999.  10th seed Jefferson, was competitive all tournament long.  They opened up the first round with a 70-50 win over Community College of Rhode Island.  The they went on and upset #2, Hostos, 79-73 in the quarterfinals in double overtime, which advanced them to the semifinals where they beat Minnesota West Community College 66-60 to make it to the championship.    In the Championship game they faced a very fast and competitive Lady Yellowjackets.  LaKaiya Butcher led Jefferson with 17 points.  Although is wasn't the outcome they wanted, Coach Wiley was very proud of their girls and what they have accomplished this season.  They ended the 2025 season with a 26-6 record.  Coach Wiley was also awarded the 2025 Division III North District Coach of the Year and the team was awarded the 2025 Division III Rosemarie Battaglia Sportsmanship Award.  Congratulations to the Lady Cannoneers on an amazing season!
