Jefferson Splits with the Panthers

In game one the Cannoneers' 2025 season started with a tough loss with a lot of first-game mistakes that the Tompkins Cortland Panthers made pay. Tom Beeckmans threw 2.3 innings to start the game, allowing 2 ER and striking out 4. Nick Spivey and Ryan Murnane supplied the only offense, each with an RBI and 2 RBI double respectively. Jacob Ortiz worked 3 walks out of the leadoff spot and stole 2 bases.

In game 2 of the doubleheader the Cannoneers rebounded from game 1 with a strong offensive showing in game 2. Anthony Celar led the way at the plate with 2 hits and 3 RBI. Ben Loevenmark also had 2 hits including a double. Braiden Bley drove in 2 runs and Oiram Williams drove in 3 runs with a bases-clearing double. Jacob Ortiz added to his early season stolen base total with 3 more. Nathan Eccleston starred out of the bullpen, pitching 3.1 innings with no earned runs allowed. Nate Van Wie would earn the save in the 9th, closing the door on a late Panthers' rally.
