Game 1 of Thursday's home double header versus division rival Mohawk Valley saw a big comeback victory for JCC. The Hawks would get out to a 5-1 lead in the 5th inning, but JCC would score in each of the final 5 innings of play. JCC was down 5-3 in the 7th inning before tying the game at 5, forcing extra innings. Braiden Bley and Omari Williams would reach base and then double steal to 2nd and 3rd, before Allen Benton would hit a walk-off single in the 8th inning. Bley pitched 4 2/3 innings, then Nathan Eccelston pitched 3 1/3 scoreless in relief to earn the win. Anthony Celar would lead the JCC offense with a double and 2 RBI, while Robert Leyva would leg out 2 triples.
Game 2 of the double header provided to be a nice game on both sides of the ball for JCC. Mekhi Smithwick led the way on the mound, pitching 5 innings, allowing just 1 run and striking out 5. Daniel Storey kept the Hawks at bay throwing 2 innings in relief, allowing 1 run and striking out 1. Ryan Murnane would pace the Cannoneers' 10-run effort with a double and 4 RBI. Anthony Celar would provide 2 RBI. Omari Williams collected 2 hits and stole 3 bases. Nick Spivey caught both games of the double header and slugged a triple in game 2. JCC will face MVCC again on Tuesday April 1st to complete the 4 game series.
