Jefferson Hockey Falls to Paul Smith's

Game 3:  Paul Smith's College vs. JCC at Haldane Arena 

On Saturday night, the Cannoneers Hockey team faced off against a highly competitive team from Paul Smith's College.  Ryan Janus of Paul Smith's led off the scoring for the Bobcats with a goal midway through the first period.  Kyle Gionet of JCC countered with a goal less than two minutes later, and the score at the end of the first period was knotted at 1-1.  The second period was a good one for Paul Smith's as they jumped out to a 3-1 lead on goals by Larry Parece and Colin Palmer.  The score at the end of the second was 3-1 Bobcats.  Colin Palmer led off the third period with a goal just 45 seconds into the period, giving the Bobcats a 4-1 lead.   Midway through the period, Cannoneer Zachary Blevins scored a great shorthanded goal with an assist from Benjamin Wiley.  Wiley was able to score shortly thereafter on an assist from Blevins, making it 4-3.  JCC pulled goalie Drew Stone in the game's final minute, and shots by Ben Wiley, Casey Wilson, and a near miss by Zach Blevins left the Cannoneers a goal short in their attempt at a comeback.

Notable players for JCC were Benjamin Wiley 1G-1A, Zachary Blevins 1G – 1A, Kyle Gionet 1G and a 37 save performance by goalie Drew Stone.   Paul Smiths moves to a 2-5- record overall and 2-2 UNYCHL record, while JCC falls to a 2-1 record overall and 1-1 UNYCHL record.
