Jefferson Hockey Defeats Skidmore College 16-2

On Saturday evening, the Cannoneers hockey team traveled down to Skidmore College to play a UNYCHL league game. Right from the start of the first period, the game was all Jefferson as they scored 7 in the first period highlighted by Lucian Mayberry and Nathan Stones first career collegiate goals. Ryan Blevins, Owen Newton, Benjamin Wiley, Jack Mills, and Samuel Stone also tallied in the first period.

In the second period, Elijah Johnston scored his first college goal on a beautiful two on one with the goaltender. Also scoring in the period were Zachary Blevins, Cameron Winebar and Tyler Wilson as the score ended 14-1 at the end of the second.

In the third, Eli Johnston got on the board once again and came inches from completing his first college hat-trick. Special shoutout goes to Andy Plamondon who practices every day with the cannoneer team and got to suit up in net as the emergency backup goalie for Skidmore as their goalie was unable to play. He made a lot of fantastic saves and got plenty of shots on him throughout the game.

The Cannoneers right now sit 13-9 on the season and have locked in the third spot in the UNYCHL playoffs. They have one more home game this Friday at the Watertown Municipal Arena where they will once again take on Skidmore College.  They will then travel to Saranac Lake for a league playoff game on Saturday afternoon vs. Paul Smith's.
