On Sunday night, the Cannoneers Hockey team faced off against LeMoyne University in a UNYCHL regular season game. It was the first-ever game played by the Cannoneers at Watertown Municipal Arena and we were fortunate to have President Dupee conduct the ceremonial puck drop for the first official faceoff for JCC in Watertown!

Zachary Blevins of JCC scored a goal less than two minutes into the game on a nice assist from Casey Wilson. Shortly after that, LeMoyne countered with a goal of their own, scored by Michael Hockenberger.  JCC dominated play throughout the first period and was able to up the lead to 4-1 by the end of the 1st period on goals by Owen Newton, David Stern (Shorthanded), and Zach Blevins (Powerplay).  The second period was a back-and-forth game with Kyle Gionet scoring midway through the period on a nice tic-tac-toe play with Benjamin Wiley and Zach Blevins notching assists.     Connor Boland and Quinn Fidler scored for LeMoyne, cutting into the JCC lead and making the game tight at 5-3.  However, Traigh Kittle was able to score a nice goal on assists from Blevins and Owen Newton with 2 minutes left in the period giving JCC the 6-3 at the end of two periods.

LeMoyne scored in the first minute of the third period, but Blevins connected on a nice pass from Stern, scoring a nice shorthanded goal for JCC bringing the score to 7-4 in favor of the Cannoneers.  Charles Gaetano scored at the 8:44 mark tightening the game up once again, but Blevins scored his 4th goal of the game less than a minute later.  Charles Boland added a goal late on an unexpected breakaway, but JCC was able to maintain the two-goal lead and finish strong with a nice 8-6 win.
